Three prisoners, two of them accused of drug trafficking and the third an ISIS terrorist, escaped on the evening of November 19, with the collusion of a leader in the Turkish-affiliated military police militia in the occupied city of Afrin.
According to our correspondent, the leader in the military police, “Mohammed Al-Khudr,” received three detainees at the military hospital in the occupied city of Afrin. They were brought from Marateh prison, claiming that they were suffering from chronic diseases. Around 10:00 PM on Sunday, November 19, the individual named “Mohammed” smuggled the three prisoners in exchange for a total amount of $25,000 each.
The three detainees are “Firas Salem,” nicknamed Abu Bakr, the most dangerous among them, an ISIS terrorist, and the two individuals, “Ali Haboush” and “Anis Ahmed,” accused of drug trafficking.
Our correspondent pointed out that “Mohammed Khudr” did not report the escape of the detainees on the same evening. Instead, he waited until dawn the next Monday and announced their escape. This was to give them time to flee and ensure they were not arrested again by the military police militia. He added that a member of the civilian police militia was involved in smuggling the prisoners.
As a result, the occupied city of Afrin witnessed a military alert by the military police militia, which set up checkpoints inside the city. They arrested the father of one of the escaped prisoners to pressure his son to surrender. However, he was quickly released after confirming his lack of knowledge of his son’s whereabouts.
Private sources confirmed that the ISIS member Abu Bakr managed to reach the occupied city of Al-Bab, despite his name being circulated at all checkpoints of the “National Army” militias.
It’s worth noting that members and leaders of the military police militia are involved in smuggling operations for ISIS terrorist elements and others detained on charges of murder, human trafficking, and drug smuggling from Rajo prison and Marateh prison, in exchange for thousands of dollars.
