Russian fighter jets carried out two airstrikes early on Saturday, November 4th, targeting positions of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) organization on the Harsh Ain Sheeb axis in the western Idlib province. The strikes resulted in the destruction of underground fortifications held by the organization. The extent of the damage is yet to be fully assessed.
In a related development, the Syrian government forces shelled the villages of Benin in Idlib province, as well as Al-Tufahiya and Ain Aissa in the northern Latakia province. These attacks occurred amidst intensive reconnaissance flights by Russian aircraft over the region.
On Friday, November 3rd, four HTS fighters were killed, and five others suffered severe injuries when Russian warplanes conducted several airstrikes on military positions at the outskirts of the town of Faleifel in the Jabal al-Zawiya region of southern Idlib.
