On November 18, members of a patrol affiliated with the Turkish-affiliated “Al-Hamza Division” militia brutally assaulted Hassan Haji Hamkro and his father Haji Hamkro from the village of kurzeleh in Shara district in Afrin. The attack followed condolences offered by the village residents for the martyrdom of their cousin, Juwan Haji Hamkro, who lost his life in an airstrike by a Turkish military drone targeting a car in Kobani on November 15.
Our correspondent reports that a verbal altercation erupted between citizen Haji Hamkro and al-Hamza Division militia members, escalating into a physical assault on the father and son. The militia attempted to arrest them, but village elders intervened to prevent their apprehension.
It is worth noting that on December 21, 2022, Turkish intelligence raided a mourning council at the residence of the headman of the border village of Meydan Akbas in the Rajo district of occupied Afrin. They arrested nine Kurdish citizens, including women and minors, accusing them of holding a mourning council for the martyrdom of the headman’s daughter (a fighter in the ranks of Kurdish forces) from his first wife, who resides in Al-Shahba region.
They were released in stages, with the headman and two others being the last to regain their freedom on February 9, 2023, after paying fines.
