Kurdish Girl Detained Unjustly in Turkey – Family Appeals for Answers

afrinpost:Exclusive

Approximately two months ago, Turkish security forces arbitrarily detained a Kurdish girl, hailing from the Afrin region, while she was on her way to work. The young Kurdish woman, identified as “Daniyal Ali Habash” (26 years old) from the village of Qasem\Qêsim in the Rajo district, was en route to her job in a sewing workshop in the Baghclar area of Istanbul as part of a group of 15 individuals. She was apprehended by Turkish security authorities arbitrarily, citing the absence of a temporary protection card.

Despite the family’s persistent demands, Turkish authorities have not provided any information about her whereabouts. The family refrained from declaring her disappearance, hoping she would return home shortly after routine procedures. However, after ten days, the group, including Daniyal, was released, but she did not return home.

Concerned about the sensitivity of the situation, her family decided to hire a lawyer from the city of Gaziantep to pursue her case and approach security authorities. Regrettably, no information has been disclosed by the security authorities regarding her situation.

Daniyal has been residing in Turkey for seven years with her mother, brother, and sister-in-law. Throughout these years, she led a normal life, going out and working regularly. Two months after Daniyal’s arbitrary detention, her brother reached out to Rudaw Kurdish channel, expressing his desire to bring the matter to a broader audience in the hope of receiving assistance. The family is particularly worried about Daniyal’s potential deportation to areas under Turkish occupation in northern Syria.
