In a recent incident, members of the eastern checkpoint belonging to Iranian-backed militias in the city of Nubl, northern Aleppo, detained six Kurdish youths from the villages of Sherawa district in the Afrin countryside on the morning of November 26. The youths are namely: Subhi Muhammad Nasro and Hassan Muhammad A’lewi, Hussein Muhammed Hussain, Osso Muhammad, Muhammad Osso Osso, and Ibrahim Ahmad Ibrahim were apprehended without any charges being formally filed against them.
According to our correspondent, the six youths were on their way to Nubl when they were arrested by the eastern checkpoint forces. Subsequently, they were transferred to the city center. However, following the intervention of the Public Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration for Afrin and Shahba, they were released after a few hours of detention.
This marks the second instance of locals from the Shahba region being detained in November. Previously, on November 6, pro-Iran militias in the cities of Nubl and Zahra kidnapped several displaced residents of Afrin and seized about ten vehicles transporting them between Shahba and Aleppo, without clear reasons.
In response, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the Shahba region closed the Nubl-Deir Jamal road and all subsidiary routes. They established security checkpoints promptly and began arresting armed individuals loyal to Iran from Nubl and Zahra. This was a strategy to exert pressure on the militias and secure the release of the abductees.
The tension subsided only after the intervention of mediators from Nubl and Zahra, leading to the immediate release of the detainees by both parties the following day.
