On November 22, a confrontation over olive theft in the fields of Mobata/Ma’batale in the occupied Afrin countryside resulted in an IDP being shot by a militant of the Sultan Murad militia.
According to our correspondent, a brawl erupted between IDPs belonging to the Mawali tribe and members of the Sultan Murad militia led by “Abu Walid Al-Azi.” The skirmish escalated when armed individuals from the militia fired at the IDPs, injuring one and damaging their vehicle.
Our correspondent clarified that IDPs from the Mawali tribe were stealing olives from the fields of the residents of Mobata near the Al-Abraz settlement. A patrol led by “Abu Walid Al-Azi” headed to the scene and requested them to leave, claiming that these fields were seized by the Sultan Murad militia. However, the IDPs refused to leave, leading to a clash and the militia members insulting and firing at the IDPs and their women.
Theft of olive crops in the occupied Afrin region continues unabated, with locals struggling to protect their harvests from repeated encroachments by armed IDPs and militants.
It is worth noting that members of the militia “Division Nine” recently looted the entire harvest from a field between the village of Sheikh Bila and the entrance to the town of Rajo, consisting of 65 olive trees owned by the forcibly displaced citizen “Aref Ibrahim” from the town of Rajo. Despite his cousin being the official proxy, holding a power of attorney issued by the Afrin court.
