The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the Shahba region closed the road connecting Nubl and Deir Jamal, along with all its subsidiary roads, on November 6, in response to the kidnappings carried out by Iran-affiliated militias in the cities of Nubl and Zahra. These militias kidnapped displaced citizens from Afrin and seized their vehicles in northern Aleppo’s countryside.
Residents from Afrin were prevented from traveling to Aleppo to ensure their safety. As a swift response, security checkpoints were set up, and they began to arrest armed individuals loyal to Iran from Nubl and Zahra, pressuring the militias to release the abductees.
Iran-affiliated militias in the cities of Nubl and Zahra, located in the northern countryside of Aleppo, had previously seized vehicles transporting Afrin’s displaced citizens to Aleppo in October 2022 for several days, and they have repeated this act periodically. This is done to exert pressure on the Council of Afrin and Shahba to fulfill their demands, occasionally leading to clashes between the two sides.
