The Turkish authorities persist in the arrest of Kurdish citizens who are returning to their villages after years of forced displacement. They subject them to harassment, aiming to prevent them from reclaiming their confiscated properties or settling in their homes in the occupied city of Afrin or their respective villages.
“afrinpost” has learned that the Turkish-affiliated Military Police militia in the Mobata sub-district, arrested a citizen named “Fares Muhammad Rashid,” known as “Heshino” (32 years old), from his home in the village of Sheikhoutka. He was detained on charges of having dealings with the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.
The citizen “Fares” returned to his village about three months ago from the city of Aleppo after being forcibly displaced from it for years. Upon his return, he was abducted by the “Jaish al-Nukhbah” militia that controls his village and was later released. However, the Military Police of Mobata continues to detain him.
It is worth noting that the civil registry in the local council of Afrin transfers identity card applications to Turkish intelligence for security vetting before issuing them, with particular scrutiny directed towards newly returning residents from occupied Afrin, whether they come from Aleppo, Lebanon, or Shahba. These individuals often face arrest upon their return to their homes and villages, ostensibly for further questioning, ultimately obstructing their attempts to reclaim confiscated properties.
