On October 5th, the Syrian regime’s army conducted intense artillery shelling targeting villages and towns in the countryside of Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo. This escalation came in response to a drone attack on a military college in Homs province, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of military personnel and civilians.
The heavy artillery bombardment extended to various fronts, including Jisr al-Shughour, Mahambel, Binnish, Maarat al-Numan, Hambooshia, Deir Sunbul, Rweiha, Al-Bara, Sann, Al-Nayrab, Afes, and Ma’ar Shoreen in the Idlib countryside. In the western Aleppo countryside, the areas of Al-Azmaoua, Al-Atarib, Kafr Ama, Tadil, Kafr Taal, Al-Qusur were also targeted.
Unknown drones targeted a graduation ceremony for officers at the military college just minutes after the event concluded in Homs province. The attack resulted in the deaths of 60 individuals, including 9 civilians who were family members of the officers. Additionally, 120 officers and their relatives, who were waiting for them at the “Military College” gate, were injured. Notably, the graduation ceremony was attended by high-ranking Syrian regime military officials and the Minister of Defense, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
