As part of their ongoing efforts to steal olive crops by imposing tributes and pressuring the original Kurdish inhabitants of Afrin, “Al-Hamza /Al-Hamzat” militia has imposed both financial and in-kind tributes on the residents of villages within their control in the occupied Jindires sub-district of Afrin.
Our correspondent reported that the “Hamza Division” militia imposed a financial tribute ranging from $300 to $500 on each farmer from the villages of Chulaaa, Faqira, Kafr Deli Foqani, and Kafr Deli Tahtani. They also demanded that the residents of Korka deliver 250 cans of oil (each 16 liters).
The correspondent noted that the fields of these mentioned villages have witnessed numerous cases of extensive olive crop theft, prompting farmers to employ guards to protect their fields.
On October 17, afrinpost learned that the “Hamza Division” militia in the town of Marateh collected 70,000 Turkish Lira from the residents of 11 villages under their control. This came after they informed the residents that they needed to obtain a document allowing them to harvest olives from their fields. This document was issued after paying a financial tribute of $1,000 to each village, under the pretext of guarding the crops.
