In a recent development, afrinpost has received information concerning the arrest of Dr. Lazkin Saleh, a prominent Kurdish physician hailing from the village of Kurzeleh within the Afrin city center subdistrict. The apprehension transpired on September 5th, as Turkish intelligence officers conducted a raid at Dr. Saleh’s residence situated in the occupied city of Afrin. The motive behind his arrest remains undisclosed at this time.
It is worth noting that Dr. Lazkin Saleh had previously fallen victim to abduction by the Ahrar Al-Sharqiya militia on May 29, 2018. During this earlier incident, his property, located on Jindires Street in Afrin city, was seized following the forced eviction of his family. His clinics were also subjected to looting. Dr. Saleh’s eventual release came after the payment of a ransom to the militia, a transaction that transpired on June 16, 2018.
Additionally, on September 5th of this year, the Military Police militia, acting under the auspices of Turkish forces, conducted a similar operation. They targeted the residence of “Ismael Mohammed Kuwiro,” a Kurdish citizen, and proceeded to arrest him in the village of Wilekliyeh/Meydana, part of the Rajo subdistrict. Mr. Kuwiro faces allegations of affiliation with Autonomous Administration institutions that were operative prior to the occupation of the Afrin region in March 2018.
