Our correspondent in Afrin indicated a series of thefts and property sales involving the homes and businesses of native Kurdish residents in the occupied city. These incidents are carried out by armed militias and IDPs loyal to them, reflecting the ongoing chaos and insecurity that has plagued the region since the Turkish forces took control in March 2018.
In one incident, unidentified armed individuals stole a motorcycle and electrical tools from the home of Imad Hasan bin Abdou, located near the Maratah roundabout in central occupied Afrin. The theft occurred on September 3rd while Imad and his family were in their village in the Rajo vsub-district.
On September 4th, a fight broke out between IDPs from the Bakara tribe and others hailing from the southern Aleppo countryside. This brawl was sparked by the theft of sheep belonging to the Bakara by individuals from the southern Aleppo countryside. The altercation escalated to the use of firearms, resulting in injuries to two individuals from the Bakara tribe.
In a separate incident, an IDP associated with the Sultan Murad militia sold the house of Zaloukh Ibrahim, a native of the village of Amara in the Mobata district, situated in the old neighborhood of Afrin. The house was sold to one of his relatives from the Hama countryside for $1,200.
Meanwhile, in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood of occupied Afrin, an IDP from Aleppo named Ahmad Dimok sold a property owned by Khalil Muhammad, a resident of the village of Qurne in the Bulbul sub-district, to another IDP from the Qalamoun region of rural Damascus for $700.
