With the olive harvesting season underway, Pro-Turkey SNA groups and their relatives from IDPs have begun systematically pilfering the crop from the fields of Afrin’s native Kurdish population. This recurring and ongoing violation has persisted with each new harvest season since the occupation of the Afrin region five years ago.
Our correspondent reported that IDPs residing in the “Al-Makateb” project along the road to Marateh village have been involved in the theft of olives from fields located on the outskirts of Marateh Prison. These fields rightfully belong to the residents of Marateh and Kafarshil villages, near the city of Afrin.
According to local sources, residents of Koylan village in the Rajo sub-district have lodged formal complaints against (IDPs) who encroach upon olive fields and unabashedly engage in looting, all of which unfolds conspicuously prior to the lawful landowners initiating their harvest.
Both the military police and the Hamza/Hamzat Brigade militias appear to wilfully disregard these grievances, strongly suggesting their direct involvement in these theft and pillage activities aimed at the assets of Afrin’s native population.
On another note, our correspondent added that a group of thieves has stolen a motorcycle belonging to Khalil Najjar. The incident occurred on the Sarfis road in Al-Ashrafiya neighborhood within the occupied city of Afrin
