In recent days, Russian forces, along with the Syrian regime army, have initiated military patrols in villages and towns in al-Shahba region of northern Aleppo countryside.

According to our correspondent, Russian forces conducted a military patrol today, Friday, September 29th, starting from the Faisal Mill and roamed through the villages and towns of Deir Jamal, Tell Rifaat, Sheikh Isa, Harbul, and Fafin in al-Shahba region of northern Aleppo countryside. The patrol passed through the contact lines between the Syrian regime army and the National Army militias in the northern and eastern countryside of Aleppo.

Two days ago, on September 27th, Russian forces conducted a similar patrol, touring the village of Ahras and proceeding through Um al-Hawash to the village of Harbul in northern Aleppo countryside.

Russian forces raised their flags in al-Shahba region and Sherawa for the first time in May 2020 after the Turkish occupation of Afrin in March 2018, following Russia’s approval to launch attacks on the Kurdish region.

They have been deployed in the town of Tell Rifaat in Shahba and in villages like Tenneb, Abbin, Soghonakeh, and Aqiba in the Sherawa region of Afrin (areas not under Turkish control).

On November 30, 2022, Russian forces began raising their flag and positioned artillery on the outskirts of a building in the village of Tell Jijan. This marked the first time they had deployed along the contact lines with the militias of the Turkish-affiliated “Syrian National Army”.

Furthermore, their military bases are present at Meng Military Airport, Faisal Mill, the city of Tell Rifaat, and the village of Al-Wahshiyah in northern Aleppo countryside.
