Renewed clashes erupted early on September 4 between fighters from the Manbij Military Council and militias affiliated with the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army following the latter’s attempt to infiltrate the Al-Buheyj, Al-Muhsinli, and Umm Jalud fronts in the countryside of Manbij. The skirmish resulted in the deaths of two National Army militia members and the injury of five others.
Artillery units from the Manbij Military Council targeted positions and gatherings of National Army militias along the Arab Hasan Kabir, Tal Ali, Yashli, and Al-Hamran fronts in the northern and northeastern Aleppo province countryside. Human casualties among the National Army militias have not yet been reported.
Yesterday evening, on September 3, military reinforcements from the “Sulayman Shah/Al-Amshat” militia arrived at the contact lines with the Manbij Military Council, deploying heavy weaponry.
According to our correspondent, the Turkey is endeavoring to engage it’s backed militias in attacks on Manbij fronts, presenting them as solely composed of Arab tribal members, to conceal its support for and coordination with the National Army militias in opening new fronts against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
In a related development, four members of the Military Police were wounded in an attack by unidentified armed individuals riding motorcycles at a checkpoint near the village of Al-Ammarna in the occupied Jarabulus countryside. The assailants managed to flee to an unknown location.
