Our reporter in Afrin indicated that clashes have broken out yesterday, August 7, between armed groups and IDPs due to disputes over homes belonging to Kurdish citizens that have been seized in the occupied city of Afrin. The clashes involved the use of firearms and explosive devices, highlighting the deteriorating security situation and chaos resulting from the weakened role of security forces in maintaining order in the area.
A brawl erupted between members of the Turkish-backed“Jaish al-Sharqiya” militia and IDPs originally from Eastern Ghouta over a house owned by a forcibly displaced citizen in Afrin. The house is located at the end of Al-Vellat Street near the highway intersection. During the altercation, armed individuals opened fire, injuring one of the IDPs.
Hours later, a member of the “Hamzat” militia placed an explosive device in a house owned by an IDP from Eastern Ghouta, aiming to pressure him into vacating the property. Upon the arrival of a patrol from the military police militia, the IDP was detained for several hours, and the explosive device was defused.
The ownership of the house belongs to the displaced citizen, “Mohammed Hussein Shambal,” and it is situated in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood near Al-Bayraq Bakery.
In a separate incident, a motorcycle belonging to Mustafa Sheikh, a resident of Qesim village in the Rajo sub-district, was stolen. The theft occurred in front of the sewing workshop where Mustafa works, located in the Al-Mahmoudiya neighborhood in the occupied city of Afrin
