Turkish-backed Militias Abduct and Ransom Six Kurds in Afrin, Two Released

According to local sources, the Turkish-affiliated militias have abducted six Kurdish citizens under the pretext of having ties with the previous Autonomous Administration in the occupied Afrin region. Only two of them were released after paying a ransom.

In detail, the “Hamza Brigade” militia abducted four Kurdish citizens on August 27th and handed them over to the “Political Security” militia, accusing them of performing mandatory service. The abducted individuals are Jamil Haj Khalil (25 years old), Zaki Tobal (26 years old), Mahmoud Mohammad Junaid (29 years old), and Mohammad Taha (27 years old), all from the village of Basouta in the Shara sub-district.

In Rajo, on August 26th, members of the “Mohammed al-Fateh” militia abducted citizens Mohammad Jaafar (55 years old) and Ibrahim Hassan (64 years old) from the village of Maamla, accusing them of carrying out night guard duties during the previous Autonomous Administration time.

The two individuals remained detained for a day at the militia’s headquarters in the town of Rajo. Each of them paid a ransom of $300 before being released the following day.
