On August 6, Turkish authorities released Kamal Muhy Al-Din, a resident of Chulaqa village in the Jindires sub-district, after he paid a sum of $1500, according to our correspondent in the city of Afrin.
The correspondent had reported that patrol from the military police militia arrested two Kurdish youths on July 31, 2023. They were Kamal Muhy Al-Din (22 years old), who resides near the water reservoir in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, and Omar Ali (25 years old) from Maratah/Maaratah village. The arrest occurred during an identity check campaign on the Sarfis road in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood.
On August 1, 2023, Kurdish youth Omar Ali was released after paying $500, while his friend Kamal Muhy Al-Din was released a week after their arrest.
“afrinpost” has documented a total of 39 cases of arrests and abductions in July 2023, including 31 residents of Afrin. Some of the arrests were carried out at checkpoints established by the Syrian regime. Additionally, 15 cases of release were documented, including cases stemming from previous arrests, and one case of a missing individual.
