In a recent development, Turkish forces have arrested seven Kurdish civilians in the Afrin region since the beginning of August, with charges including engaging with Autonomous Administration and joining its military forces before the Kurdish region was occupied in March 2018.

According to our correspondent, security checkpoint personnel at the southern entrance of Afrin city, known as the “Trenda Checkpoint,” apprehended Hassan Khudr Hamou, 36 years old, Saturday morning on August 12, 2023. This occurred while he was en route from his residence in the village of Basuta to the city. It is worth noting that Hassan is a resident of Kimareh village in the Sherawa sub-district.

In another incident, Turkish authorities carried out a series of arrests on Thursday, August 10, targeting several young individuals from the village of Jalameh. Despite possessing temporary residence cards in Turkey for an extended period, these individuals were unjustly detained on fabricated charges.

Among those arrested were individuals such as Farhad Hamoush, Jumaa Mohamed, Mustafa Gulak, and another individual from the Kedlo family. Additionally, Ahmed Mohamed Mustafa, a resident of Dargireh village in the Mobata/Ma’batli sub-district, was abducted by armed militants from the “Hamza Division” while present in the village of Shingeleh in the Bulbul sub-district. The charges against him remain undisclosed. Ahmed, 32 years old, resides in Al-Mahmudiya neighborhood of Afrin city.

Furthermore, on Tuesday, two citizens, Ahmed Aiso and his cousin Luay, both in their thirties, were arrested from their home in Kabashin village in the Sherawa sub-district. Despite working as civilian employees with the civil police militias under Turkish authorities, they were taken into custody.
