Our correspondent has reported that the militia of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement sent military reinforcements to the city of Afrin and the Ma’batli sub-district on Monday, July 3. The reinforcements included dozens of heavily armed vehicles equipped with medium and heavy machine guns. Additionally, the militia brought in further reinforcements from the city of Al-Bab, which arrived in the occupied city of Afrin later in the afternoon and headed towards the Ma’batli sub-district.
The correspondent noted that military tensions escalated between the Al-Amshat militia and the Ahrar al-Sham Movement when the latter demanded that IDPs from families affiliated with the “Third Corps” militia evacuate the seized houses in the town of Mubatli. These houses were estimated to be inhabited by approximately 20 families residing in five residential buildings after their Kurdish owners were displaced.
The correspondent added that the militia’s intention to evict these families aims to accommodate its own affiliated families rather than returning the properties to their rightful owners. It is worth mentioning that the threats made by Ahrar al-Sham Movement to storm the Ma’batli sub-district have diminished following the withdrawal of the Al-Amshat militia from its plan to seize those residential buildings.
