afrinpost– Exclusive

The Health Authority in the Shahba region has strongly condemned the recent attack by Turkish forces on the Tel Rifaat Hospital in northern Aleppo. The assault resulted in the injury of four civilians, including a medical staff member, and caused significant damage to the hospital structure.

According to reports, Mohliss Ahmed Naasan (25), Abdullah Abdulrahman Murad (40), Mohammed Hameed (45), and Mustafa Hassan (27) were among those wounded in the shelling.

The Health Authority expressed grave concern over the persistent shelling of the Shahba region by Turkish forces over the past five years. The attacks have escalated in recent times, with the use of drones and artillery bombardment, affecting tens of thousands of displaced civilians from Afrin and local residents.

In a strongly worded statement, the Health Authority denounced the Turkish forces for their blatant violation of international and humanitarian laws by targeting the Tel Rifaat Hospital. The facility provides vital medical care to patients under the difficult circumstances of the ongoing siege imposed by the Syrian regime’s Fourth Division.

Urging the international community to intervene, the Health Authority called on them to exert pressure on the Turkish forces to immediately halt their ruthless attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces stationed at the Thulthana Base, located on the outskirts of the occupied city of Mare’, launched a shelling attack, firing five artillery shells. Two of the shells struck between Tel Rifaat Hospital and the Russian checkpoint, while the remaining shells caused damage near the Bazaar Square in the Sixth Kumin neighborhood of central Tel Rifaat.

Local shop owners in Tel Rifaat have taken precautionary measures, shutting down their businesses in fear of further shelling on residential areas. The community is gripped with fear and anxiety, particularly in the aftermath of the recent attack that resulted in material damage and civilian casualties at Tel Rifaat Hospital.
