In a tragic incident this morning, June 12th, a Kurdish woman from the people of Afrin lost her life after being stabbed by armed robbers who also looted her jewelry and set her house on fire near Maratah Roundabout in the occupied city of Afrin.

According to our correspondent, the victim, 31-year-old Awfa Sheikh Zaim, hailing from the village of Sheikh \Al-Shuyukh in the Rajo sub-district, succumbed to her injuries at the Afrin Hospital. She was stabbed by armed robbers inside her home.

Our correspondent added that after her husband, Hanif Hanan Khalil, left for work around 7 a.m., neighbors noticed a fire breaking out in the house around 9 a.m. Later, they found the deceased woman lying in a pool of blood on the staircase of the building. They attempted to rush her to the hospital, but she tragically passed away due to the multiple stab wounds.

According to sources close to the scene, one of the members of the “Mohammad Al-Fateh” militia resides in the same building. He is known for his frequent assaults against residents of the neighborhood and the city. They accuse him of committing this heinous crime against Awfa.

It was confirmed that her gold jewelry, electrical appliances, and money were stolen, with the perpetrators likely gaining access to the apartment/house through a damaged section caused by the recent earthquake.

After robbing and stabbing the victim, the assailant set fire to the house to conceal the evidence of the crime, according to our sources.

The military police militia in Afrin has imposed a security cordon around the building, preventing residents from entering their homes until the investigation is concluded.

Awfa, who had been married for approximately 11 years but had not been blessed with children, had been saving money and preserving her jewelry for an expensive in vitro fertilization procedure.
