Two Kurds Disappear While Attempting to Cross Syrian-Turkish Border

afrinpost– Exclusive

Reliable sources reported on Monday, May 8, that two Kurdish persons have disappeared after attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border through smuggling routes. The two citizens, Najdat Murad Alou, 50, and Ahmed Qadir Habash, 45, from the village of Dîkê in Rajo sub-district, attempted to cross the border towards Turkish territories from the city of Azaz four days ago, coming from Aleppo. However, their whereabouts are unknown as news of their disappearance has not been confirmed.

Sources suggest that the military police militia in Azaz arrested the two individuals, but there has been no official statement on their fate.

Despite the hundreds of killings and violent attacks by Turkish border guards, smuggling activities continue to flourish on the Syrian-Turkish border, led by SNA militias and smugglers.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, since the beginning of 2023, eleven people have died and twenty have been injured on the Syrian-Turkish border at the hands of Turkish border guards.
