In a continued effort to suppress Kurdish citizens, the Turkish authorities have escalated their campaign of arrests and raids, citing baseless charges primarily related to previous employment within the Autonomous Administration or affiliation with military forces.

In a recent incident, a patrol belonging to the military police conducted a midnight raid on several houses in the village of Kafardaleh Tahtani, located in the Jindires sub-district. Three individuals from the same family were arrested under the pretext of working in institutions affiliated with the former Autonomous Administration in the Afrin region.

The detainees were identified as Nawal Khalil Haj Hannan (26 years old), Abdullah Haj Hannan (40 years old), and Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Haj Hannan (42 years old). They were subsequently taken to the headquarters of the militia in the occupied city of Afrin.

Additionally, in Afrin city, a Kurdish citizen named Reber Mustafa (32 years old) from the village of Kurka Fawqani was subjected to arrest by the Turkish authorities while he was heading to the Transportation Directorate on Sunday, May 21st.

According to our correspondent, Reber Mustafa resides in the Old Afrin neighborhood of the city and works in al-Hal market.

afrinpost” has documented a total of 15 cases of arrests and abductions since the beginning of May 2023, targeting the residents of Afrin, including a minor girl. Moreover, six cases of release have been confirmed.

The arrests are often conducted arbitrarily, with citizens being detained at security checkpoints or through violent raids accompanied by thorough house searches and humiliation of the occupants. These arbitrary charges are primarily based on alleged ties to the previous Autonomous Administration or accusations of collaboration with Kurdish military factions.
