In a recent incident, the military police militia in the town of Rajo detained a young girl and a boy from the village of Berj al-Qas in the Sherawa sub-district while they were attempting to cross the border through smuggling routes into Turkish territory.
The girl, identified as Mufida Nasro, 17 years old, and the boy, Qassab Nasro from Aleppo, were seeking to join Mufida’s fiancé, who resides in Turkey. However, members of the military police militia captured and detained them at their headquarters in Rajo.
This development comes in the context of continued arrests in northern Syria. Approximately a month ago, Turkish intelligence forces arrested Wahid Hanan, a 58-year-old resident of Jwaiq village in the central district, from his residence near the current Local Council headquarters (formerly Afrin University) in the occupied city of Afrin. Wahid Hanan is known to be a member of the Kurdish Independent League, although the reasons for his arrest remain undisclosed.
