afrinpost– Exclusive

A member of a Turkish-affiliated militia was wounded by a gunshot during a disagreement today in the Afrin region. The dispute arose over the distribution of taxes imposed on Kurdish residents by the “Faylaq al-Sham” a militia group backed by Turkey.

According to our correspondent, the leader of an armed group affiliated with the “Faylaq al-Sham” named “Saleh Al-Arour,” attacked one of his members, “Majed,” and fired his Pixy-type weapon at his house in the village of Qara Baba in the Rajo sub-district. The shooting was indiscriminate and intense, and resulted in “Majed” being hit in the cheek.

The reason behind the dispute, as reported by our correspondent, was due to conflicts over the distribution of taxes that the militia imposes on Kurdish residents. It should be noted that some militia members individually impose taxes on civilians when they pass through checkpoints.

The regions controlled by the Turkish forces and its armed militias in northern Syria are witnessing continuous clashes and disputes over the sharing of funds earned from smuggling operations, theft, taxes, and illegal trade. This is happening amid a state of chaos, security breakdown, and a weakened role of the judiciary and law.
