Turkish-affiliated Militants Cut Down 60 Olive Trees in Afrin

afrinpost– Exclusive

Armed militants from the Turkish-allied “Al-Hamza/Al-Hamzat Brigade” militia have recently destroyed olive trees belonging to local citizens in the villages of Marate and Bablit in the Afrin and Jindires countryside, respectively. On April 1st, 15 olive trees owned by Abdul Rahman Battal and 45 olive trees owned by Sheikh Abdul Qadir’s children were cut down by these militants, according to local sources.

In a previous report, our sources reported that Turkish-allied militias had also cut down 100 olive trees in the Afrin and Jindires districts a couple of days ago. These trees were then sold in Idlib markets, without any intervention from the Turkish authorities to prevent such illegal activities or protect the livelihoods and properties of the local population in the occupied Afrin region.

In another incident, on March 31, 2023, 85 olive trees were destroyed in the Sharan\Şera sub-district of Afrin by militants affiliated with the “Malik Shah” militia, which is linked to the Turkish forces.
