According to local sources, the leader of the Turkish-affiliated “Al-Majd Brigade” militia in Zarka village, known as “Abu Al-Walid,” has been arbitrarily arresting and torturing young men from the village for the purpose of extorting money. The militia leader has reportedly kidnapped two young men so far and demanded a ransom of one thousand US dollars to release them.
The sources also indicate that “Abu Al-Walid” is threatening to target other young men if they do not pay the same amount. He is said to have gathered the young men in the militia’s headquarters and imposed a restriction on their families to buy bread only from a specific distributor.
These arbitrary arrests and torture reportedly occur through violent raids and searches of homes on false charges related to previous Autonomous Administration or alleged espionage with Kurdish military factions.
