In a recent incident, the leader of an armed group affiliated with the “Division 50” militia, which is part of the “Shuhada al-Sham Gathering” close to the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” organization, was killed. The leader, identified as Ali Hamdo Barbouri, 37 years old and originally from Tal Rifaat in northern Aleppo countryside, was killed near the Turkish base in the forest of Qatmah village, in the Sharran sub-district of Afrin.
According to our reporter, the circumstances surrounding Barbouri’s killing near the Turkish base remain unclear. He was reportedly pursued by unidentified assailants who attempted to assassinate him with a hail of bullets,coinciding with gunfire from the Turkish base directed towards the source of the gunfire. It is unclear whether the bullet that killed the leader originated from the unknown assailants or from the Turkish base.
It is worth mentioning that unidentified militants had previously killed Barbouri’s brother on April 6th during an attack on a checkpoint in Sijjo village, which is under the control of the “Faylaq al-Sham” militia in the occupied A’zaz countryside. The attack resulted in the killing of seven members of the “Faylaq al-Sham” militia, including a commander, and the injury of 11 others with varying degrees of severity, including critical cases.
