Turkish-affiliated militias continue their arbitrary cutting of olive trees and other fruit-bearing trees that belong to the original Kurdish residents of Afrin in order to trade them, according to local sources.

In their latest incident, they cut 144 olive trees and 11 trees of cedar and walnut. The armed militants cut 64 olive trees, including 15 trees from their roots, as well as seven large cedar trees, at the intersection of Tall Tawil towards the Rajo road near the water building.

The trees are owned by citizen Jamal Mohammed from the village of Khalneer\Xelnêrê who lives in al-Ashrafiya neighborhood and works in construction.

Militants belonging to the Sultan Murad militia cut 80 olive trees and four large walnut trees owned by citizen Jamal Mahdi Hassan from the village of Midanki in the Shara district in occupied Afrin.

Recently, the Sultan Murad militia imposed a financial tribute of 10% on the production of seasons for the residents of the Khalilaka village in the Bulbul district, under the pretext of protecting olive fields from the gangs’ cutting operations.
