Armed militants belonging to the Turkish-affiliated “Jaish al-Sharqiya” militia attacked today a civilian named Khalil Khorshid, also known as “Ibrahim Khalil Daraj,” in the village of Kafr Safra in the Jindires sub-district of the occupied Afrin.
Local sources stated that the militants, who were riding a motorcycle, have been patrolling the streets of Jindires since the morning of the attack, seeking revenge against the residents of the occupied area. The attack on Khorshid is believed to be linked to demands from families of the martyrs to enter the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham to protect them from the National Army militias operating in the area.
The assault resulted in Khorshid being severely beaten and slapped, causing him to suffer from serious injuries. The Jaish al-Sharqiya militia then took him to an unknown location, raising concerns about his safety and the possibility of execution. The incident has sparked outrage and fear among the local population.
The sources added that militants from the Jaish al-Sharqiya, who are from the town of Khsham, located in the city of Deir al-Zour, issued calls to their Akidat tribe members via Telegram channels to seek revenge against the residents of Jindires following the arrest of three members who had killed four members of the “Peshmarg” family during their celebration of Newroz. The militants described the Kurds as apostates from Islam and justified their killings as legitimate under Islamic law.
