Hundreds of Afrin Residents Protest Against Newroz Massacre

afrinpost

In response to the Newroz massacre in the occupied city of Jindires, hundreds of residents of Afrin have gathered for the third consecutive day in front of the house of the martyrs, demanding the accountability of the perpetrators and the removal of Islamic militias from the area. The protesters have refused to hold any mourning ceremonies until these demands are met.

According to our sources, security checkpoints in Afrin city, including Rajo road and Jindires road, have been closed, preventing the protesters from reaching their desired destination. It has also been reported that several Kurdish citizens have been arrested by the checkpoint elements without any further information.

The anger and outrage resulting from the cold-blooded killing of Newroz celebrators in Jindires by Turkish-affiliated militants has now expanded, with protests and demonstrations spreading to other cities. Qamishli city in northeastern Syria, Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and several European cities have seen demonstrations demanding an end to the occupation in the Kurdish region.

The protesters in Afrin have vowed to continue their sit-in until their demands are met. The Newroz massacre has caused widespread grief and anger among the Kurdish population, and the calls for justice and an end to the occupation are growing louder.
