A violent altercation between two groups belonging to the “Syrian Free Army” in the city of Afrin has resulted in injuries and a military standoff.

According to local reports, a gunman from the Sultan Murad militia, of Turkmen origin from Homs province, fired shots at two armed men from the Bani Az clan, who hail from Jerjnaz in the countryside of Idlib. The two Bani Az members were working within the Jaish al-Nukhba militia in the village of Qastal Muqdad in the occupied countryside of Afrin.

The verbal dispute between the two groups quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with one member of the Sultan Murad militia pulling out his gun and firing at the two Bani Az members. The two members sustained moderate injuries.

In response, members of the Bani Az clan fired back at the Sultan Murad member, who was also injured and all three were transported to hospitals in Afrin for treatment.

The clash led to both sides calling for military reinforcements in the Bilbilê\Bulbul district and Qastal Muqdad village. However, tribal leaders of the Bani Az clan and leaders of the Sultan Murad militia intervened and prevented the situation from escalating further.
