Pro-Turkey Militants Seize Aid Tents in Afrin

afrinpost– Exclusive

A leader in the Turkish-allied “Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh” militia named “Ibrahim Al-Qadi” seized 29 tents with all their relief supplies, travel mattresses, and kitchen utensils in the village of Tirmisha in the district of Shieh/Sheikh Al-Hadid in the occupied Afrin.

Our reporter indicated that one of the relief organizations distributed tents and supplies to the IDPs residing in the village of Tirmisha after they signed the surrender form, and as soon as the relief organization left the village, the so-called “Ibrahim Al-Qadi” seized the tents and their supplies from them by force of arms.

The leader reportedly sold some of the tents and supplies donated by relief organizations to other internally displaced persons for $200 to $300 per tent. Some of the tents were also given to the leader’s armed members’ families.

The so-called “Mohammed Al-Qasim,” also known as “Abu Seif,” a member of the “Al-Amshat” militia security element, had previously seized 30 tents and stored them in a commercial store in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood of Afrin city (near the Termanini quarry) for later sale.

These 30 tents were obtained by “Abu Seif” from the Barzani Charity Association, which distributed dozens of tents in coordination with the “Al-Amshat” militia in the village of Tirmisha only to IDPs loyal to them, on a list prepared by the militia, and none of the origin citizens received the tents on the pretext that they did not register their names with the muhtar.

It is worth mentioning that the relief office affiliated with the local council in Afrin is also involved in theft operations that target humanitarian aid and assistance. A number of employees, including “Abdullah” and “Habib,” have been known to sell more than a thousand tents, each priced at 700 Turkish liras, to a relief supplies store on the road to the new bridge in the occupied city of Afrin.
