In video: arson attacks devour forests of Qazqili in Jindires

Yesterday, Saturday, September 3, large-scale fires broke out in the bushes near Mount Qaziqli in the village of Kafr Safra in Jindires district. The firefighting team said that the fires were premeditated, and that they put out the beginning of the first fire, but they were surprised by a second fire, and they saw a man moving near the site of the fire. They continued their work by putting out some of the fires spread points in the valley, but they were unable to reach each other due to the ruggedness and the slope of the land, and they relied in their work on isolation method to prevent the spread of fire.

The firefighting team pointed out that at the time the fire site was filmed, the sound of saws was clearly heard and was only meters away from the housing complex set up by Al Ihsan Organization for Relief and Development in a mountainous location known as “Chiyayi Shawti” near Mount Qaziqli two years ago.

It was noticeable at the same site that there was a forest of huge pine trees completely cut down, and some trees were cut down a short time ago, and after the firefighting team returned from the site of the fires, they saw workers cutting trees, who stopped cutting as soon as they arrived near them, which indicated that the source of the saw’s sound was from them.

It is worth noting that a guard point belonging to the “Samarkand” militia was close to the place of cutting trees and the location of the residential assembly, which indicates the involvement of the militia’s gunmen, whether in the work of fire or logging, which increased and affected large areas of forests and hundreds of thousands of trees during last August.

On the other hand, sites close to the armed factions published pictures showing a afforestation campaign in the vicinity of Maydanki lake, to suggest that what was lost by cutting and burning will be compensated. Although it is known that the timing of afforestation is limited to the fall and spring, and afforestation cannot be done in the hot summer!
