afrinpost – Exclusive

Our reporter in Afrin said that the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia divided the cleared lands located in Al-Mahmudiya neighborhood at the entrance to the city of Afrin (below the former Defense Authority) into real estate records, and each was sold for between 4 to 6 thousand US dollars.

The agricultural lands belongs to the Barkhaneh family of the Arab component, who are from the village of Bablit in Jindires district, were seized and the olive trees (about 400 trees) were logged earlier and sold. Recently, these clearewd lands were sold, and four houses were also built in them.

It is worth noting that the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia also opened a fuel station in the above-mentioned family’s land on the side of the highway.

In January 2020, our reporter stated that the Turkish-backed “Ahrar Al-Sharqiya” militia cut down olive trees in a field located at the entrance to the city of Afrin from Rajo Road, on the pretext that the owner belongs to the Autonomous Administration. At that time, the gunmen cut down about forty trees, after which the cutting continued in an orderly manner until all the field was completely cleared.

The militia had also taken control of the artesian well in the field, and had been investing it in its favor since the Turkish forces and its Islamic militias took control of the Afrin region.
