The Afrin Liberation Forces announced in a statement today, Thursday, the killing of six Turkish soldiers and the wounding of 11 others as a result of a series of military operations targeted Turkish army bases in the occupied areas of Al-Bab, Azaz and Afrin, between the fifth and seventh of August.

The statement indicated that a number of military vehicles, weapons caches, tanks, rocket launchers and thermal cameras were damaged and destroyed during the aforementioned operations.

On August 8, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country could not remain passive in the face of the attacks launched by the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria.

The Turkish minister claimed that “the Kurdish units continue their attacks against Syrian civilians and the Turkish military with the aim of destabilizing and achieving its separatist agendas,” noting that “Turkey is making great efforts to end the crisis in Syria through a political process based on preserving the territorial integrity of this country.”
