On the first day of Eid, corresponding to May 2, a group of armed militiamen of the Islamic “Ahrar al-Sham Movement” raided the home of the two brothers, Muhammad Mustafa Mahmoud, 34 years old, and Mustafa Mustafa Mahmoud, 43 years old, in the village of Kafr Safra – Jindires district, and a special source reported to “afrinpost” that they severely beat them, causing them to suffer bruises.
The source explained that the attack occured after the two brothers objected to building a new road in the middle of their land located on the road to the village of Kura – Miske. However, the gunmen considered it an insult, and initiated a fist fight with them, saying “No one has the right to object to what we are doing, and we will do what we like.” Then they went back with others from the group called “Abdul Sattar” and raided the two brothers’ house, assaulted and severely beat them in front of their wives and children.
“A Kurd is like a sponge”
In his directives to the militia leaders, the Turkish governor in Afrin said, “A Kurd is like a sponge, when you squeeze it in the palm of your hand, it shrinks, and as soon as you open your hand, it returns like a sponge to its normal shape,” referring to the continuing pressure on the remaining indigenous Kurdish population, through arrests, kidnappings, looting and killing.
