The Turkish-backed militias seize about 20,000 fruitful trees belonging to residents of two villages in the occupied region of Afrin in northern Syria, under the pretext that their owners have connections with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria or the Democratic Union Party.
According to the documentary report (No. 157), issued by the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria yesterday, Saturday, the Muslim Brotherhood’s “Faylaq Al-Sham” militia seized more than / 15,000 / thousand fruitful trees (olive, cherry, walnut, almond…) in the village of Altaniya – Rajo sub-district, among them are two thousand olive trees owned by the brothers “Mohammed, Nouri and Khalil Othman Saleh,” and one thousand five hundred olive trees belonging to the citizen “Mohammed Ali Tobal.”
The source added that the pro-Ankara’s militias also cut down all the pine trees at the entrance to the village and other forest trees – some of them perennial – in the mountains surrounding the village in order to make firewood and make charcoal. As 200 olive trees were uprooted on a hill east of the village belonging to the citizen “Hassan Saleh from the neighboring village of Jala” and “Muhammad Rashk Hajji” from “Altania” village, to make the site a landing site for helicopters, in addition to the overgrazing of livestock among the agricultural fields.
In the village of Shekhotka – Mabeta / Maabatli sub-district, the Turkish-backed “Jaish al-Nukhba/ Elite Army” militia seized about 5000 olive trees and 10 hectares of agricultural land belonging to the displaced of the village, among them trees of the citizen “Safar Majeed Bakhoro and his brothers”.
In the same village, “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militias seized the house and the fuel station of the displaced “Haidar Bakr Bakhoro”, located at the village junction – Rajo road, in addition to machines of an olive press belonging to the citizen “Haidar” were also stolen.
The source pointed out that the olive trees of some residents were unjustly cut down for wood, and there is unjust grazing of livestock belonging to the militants and IDPs loyal to them. Not to mention, the royalties imposed by them ranging between 10%-15%/ on the olive seasons, in addition to financial ransom or a can of olive oil on each family.
