2,000 olive and pomegranate trees uprooted to construct new Turkish base and settlement

The Turkish authorities and their Islamic militias continue to uproot more fields and trees in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin, and razing the lands to establish more military bases and settlements.

In the context, the Human Rights Organization in Afrin reported that about ten days ago, the Turkish authorities uprooted more than two thousand olive and pomegranate trees in the area between the villages of Basuta and Kurzêlê, and the fields from which the trees were uprooted belong to the Kurdish citizen (Abdo Mesto Najjar), who is from the village of Basuta- Sherawa sub-district.

According to sources close to the militias, it is planned to build a Turkish military base in the pomegranate field belonging to the citizen Abdo Mesto, while a local source stated that it is planned to build a settlement on the site of the fields whose trees were uprooted to shelter widows of the mercenaries who were killed on the Libyan fronts. The project includes building more than 3,500 housing units, and the construction work will begin after uprooting of trees and leveling the land in preparation for the construction.
