afrinpost – Exclusive

Pro-Turkey Islamic militias continue to indiscriminately cut olive trees in a systematic destruction of tree wealth in occupied Afrin, and trees have been cut down in all fields between the Defense Authority (formerly) and the village of Tal Tawil, in addition to a number of trees on the Aleppo-Afrin road.

“Armed men of “Kafr Mazzeh group” belonging to “Jabhat al-Shamiya” militia cut down about thirty olive trees from a field near Aleppo-Afrin highway, above Al-Nujoum weddings hale, as the field belongs to the forcibly displaced Kurdish citizen Ahmed Hassan, from Ashkan village in Jenderes district”. Our correspondent reported

Random olive cutting operations also continue on the road leading to Rajo district, starting from the former defense authority, to the village of Tal Tawil, where olive trees were cut from several fields but we could not obtain the exact number of trees, and those fields belong to the Kurdish citizens: Muhammad Ali Muhammad from Gunde Che village, the citizen Muhram Hassan from Jwaiq village, the citizen Fa’eq Ahmed from the Chaqala village, the citizen Mustafa Gulin from Jwaiq village and the citizen Ali Kru, as well as the citizen Sidqi Muhammad from the village of Khelnere.

It is noteworthy that the total number of trees that have been cut down exceeds half a million trees, while the deforestation (as a result of cutting or burning) exceeds 15,000 hectares.
