This evening, Saturday, violent clashes erupted between the militias of the al-Shamiya Front and Jaish al-Islam affiliated with the Turkish occupation, in the city of Afrin, spreading a state of panic among civilians as a result of the warring parties’ use of heavy weapons among civilians.
According to the afrinpost correspondent, the clashes between the two sides are currently taking place in the area extending between al-Qabban Roundabout and Kawa Roundabout in the city center. Medium and heavy weapons are being used from RPJ, DShK and artillery amid intense tension in the city, which is witnessing the arriving of “Jaish al-Islam” militants to the site of the clashes to participate in it. On its part, al-Shamiya Front requested support and military supplies from the occupied city of Azaz.
The reporter confirmed that panic spread among the civilians who went to the ground floors to take shelter from the shells falling on the headquarters of al-Shamiya Front and its surroundings in Kawa roundabout from al-Qabban Roundabout where the headquarters of Jaish al-Islam” are located.
No news has yet been available about human losses in this new round of clashes between the fighting militias, and the reasons leading to this are not yet known, but the struggle for influence and the seizure of the property of the people was the most prominent reason leading to the previous rounds of fighting and conflict.
