“Habibat Allah”: preachers spreading extremism freely in Afrin

afrinpost – Special

Religious advocacy groups recently appeared in occupied Afrin, wandering among the people and harassing them by spreading extremist ideas and forcing them to attend mosques.

“In the details, some settlers force the civilians to attend the mosque under coercion, and in Tariq Jenderes neighborhood, a number of IDPs were seen wandering around the shops and ordering their owners to close their shops and go to the mosque to perform the prayer, claiming that work at the time of prayer is forbidden, stressing that this is done under duress and intimidation”, our reporter explained.

Recentley, veiled women have been noticed in the streets of the city under the name of “Habibat Allah/ God’s dear ones”, entering shops run by women, and trying to spread extremist ideas among them, noting that one of those extremist preachers admitted that she was from the aforementioned group, which includes many women who work in preaching people to Islam religion and guiding them, as she admitted her husband is a member of ISIS, and that there are others who work in the field of advocacy.

The Turkish authority which occupies Afrin encouraging religious courses comes as a continuation of spreading Extremism and Sectarianism since the occupation of Afrin in March 2018, when several religious institutes and bodies were opened.
