The Turkish occupation authorities and its Islamic militias resort to all methods to harass the people of the occupied Afrin region, through arrest and kidnapping campaigns, which take a deeper dimension by kidnapping women, but the most dangerous of them is targeting minors, thus exceeding all the limits of human rights violations, and the dilemma is that most of these incidents are kept secret. Due to the customs and traditions, embarrassment and also because of fear of reprisals.
Among the stories that leaked from the occupied Afrin region, according to a local source, that an armed group affiliated with the Sultan Murad militia, about a month and a half ago, kidnapped a minor Kurdish girl, not older than thirteen years old, from her home in al-Zaydiyya neighborhood in Afrin, and the girl’s name has been reserved for social and security considerations.
The reason behind kidnapping the girl by the gunmen is not known yet, as it is not possible to charge a child who was ten years old on the day the Afrin region was occupied.
The Human Rights Organization stated that the minor girl was subjected to sexual violence by the armed group, and was transferred to the hospital after being exposed to this heinous crime, and she has since disappeared, despite her family’s repeated questions about her, but armed men deny their connection with her.
It is noteworthy that the story of the minor Kurdish girl, Malak Nabi Khalil, is another example among the many. She was kidnapped during the Eid al-Fitr on 5/23/2020 from her home in the village of Darwish, which is occupied by the “Jaish al-Nukhba/ Elite Army” militia.
Another example is also the kidnapping of the Kurdish woman Nadia Hassan Suleiman (20 years), from the village of “Qizilbasha” and Valentina Abdo from the village of Darwish.
The storming of al-Hamzat militia headquarters was an occasion for the matter to come out into the open with force for the first time, when it was talked about the presence of naked women detained in the headquarters, and the file was tampered with and the kidnapped were transferred, so that most of them were gradually released after months, but the question remain: “what will happen to the remaining women”.
In general, the abduction of women, especially underage girls, will remain the most painful and secret file, and it will continue despite talk about it in the body of reports by human rights and media organizations, and what is being discussed is a small part of it.
