A local source from the center of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria confirmed that a Ghouta settler set his body on fire due to poor living conditions.
The settler is called “Ahmad al-Zeebaq,” a 34-year-old from Eastern Ghouta, who sells petrol near the Kabso restaurant in Mahmoudiya neighborhood in the center of the occupied Afrin city.
The people near the settler rushed to put out the fire, and took him to the Afrin hospital immediately.
Because of the poor living conditions in the areas occupied by Ankara, a large number of settlers from Eastern Ghouta rose up in Afrin, including Rajo sub-district, on November 15th, through a massive demonstration against the Turkish occupation and the Brotherhood militias called the “Syrian National Army”, to protest the latter intimidation, arrest and torture.
The Brotherhood’s militias follow the methods that were used by the intelligence services of the Syrian regime, as they terrorize all those under their control, especially the Kurds, and settlers who oppose them are not exempt from harassing them.
On the twenty-third of last August, the Islamic militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood sentenced a settler activist called Mahmoud Damascene in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria to 15 days imprisonment and a fine of 400 Turkish liras for insulting the “Syrian National Army” militia.
At the time, the settler wrote on his personal page: “There is no doubt that Turkey is not honored to place its flag on the chests of the hypocrites. If you, like the Turks, cherish your country and your revolution, you would have become a peer to them and not just their slaves.” He confirmed that he was lured by the “military police” militia, claiming that he had received a sum of money for orphans, and revealed that he had been threatened with death by the “military police” militia and that he was beaten and tortured.
