Al-Waqqas imposes an additional tax on oil production in Marwaniyah village in Shih district

Afrinpost – Special

Royalties during the olive season continue in multiple forms, at all stages of harvesting the crop, starting with the royalty before starting the harvest, on the roads, and after pressing the olives as well.

The Afrinpost correspondent reported that the armed men of the “Waqqas” militia, which controls the village of Marwanyeh, imposes a new royalty on olive press, including the payment of 10% of the oil.

The reporter added that this royalty is independent of the royalty imposed before a period, two dollars for each olive tree, and the reporter points out that the net production of many olive trees does not reach two dollars.

The militias imposed taxes to allow the harvesting of the crop, ranging from 45 cents to two dollars, and later on, the checkpoints imposed taxes on crossing the road. A checkpoint belonging to the “Hamzat” militia in the village of Kulian / Rajo sub-district, demands a tank of oil or an amount of money equivalent to the value of an oil tank.

A security checkpoint belonging to the “Sultan Suleiman Shah Brigade” militia in the “Shiye / Sheikh Al-Hadid area” imposed on cars and vehicles loaded with oil coming from the village’s oil press, an additional royalty. The amount of it is to take two cans of olive oil from every vehicle (car or tractor) crossing the checkpoint.

And the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia checkpoint, which is located at the crossroads of the “Steer-Staro” village, imposed on every car loaded with oil or olives an amount of ten thousand Syrian pounds.

As for the “Sultan Murad” militia checkpoint at Birine factories, imposed an amount of five thousand Syrian pounds for small cars, and as for the tractors and large cars, it is lent to them to pay an oil tank or the amount of fifty thousand Syrian pounds, the checkpoint was known as the checkpoint of 200, previously.
