The Kurdish olive field owners, share the same ordeal with the olive, and every season the scourge is renewed with the theft of olives directly from the fields and the militias invent new methods of theft and different amounts of royalty, as it does not differ from one season to another but from one militia to another, and the ultimate goal is to impoverish the people until nothing left of the season’s revenues to cover its expenses.
In the context, the Afrinpost correspondent reported that settlers are stealing large quantities of green olives as if they are reaping the season, from olive fields on the main road near the village of Juqeh / Juwaiq, and the thieves are the settlers who live in the canteens nearby on Rajo Road.
The correspondent added that the thefts are taking place in front of the armed elements of the checkpoint of the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia, which does not move a finger.
In another context, the Afrinpost reporter mentioned that the militias impose royalties on the harvesting of olives and everyone in his own way. While the Sultan Murad militia imposed a tax of one and a half dollars on each tree, in the fields located in the villages of Shara / Sharan district, Qastal , Qarataba, and Qurt Qulaq villages.
The Samarkand Brigade militia imposes a tax at a different rate of $ 2 per tree.
In a related context, the Afrinpost correspondent mentioned that the militias of Liwa al-Shamal and “Sultan Murad” in Bulbul district refuse to accept the permits obtained by the people from the local town council that authorize them to harvest the olive season for their family members, and they are about to seize the entire season of the forcibly displaced.
