Thursday afternoon, clashes erupted between the militants of the “Hamza Division” and “Ahrar al-Sham” militia in the village of Jolaqa, in Jenderes district in the countryside of the occupied Afrin region, and resulted in the injury of gunmen, while tension still prevails in the village, according to the Afrinpost correspondent.
The correspondent explained that the cause of the clashes between the two sides is due to a traffic accident between a motorcycle and a car in the village, and the car belonging to one of the “Hamzat” gunmen that occupies the village was damaged, while the “Ahrar al-Sham” militants are stationed in a training camp in the vicinity of the village.
On May 28, 2020, the Syrian Observatory said that clashes broke out between a military group affiliated with the “Hamza Division” militia that tried to rob a commercial store, the owner of which came from the Arbin area in Eastern Ghouta (affiliated with Ahrar al-Sham), and their attempt to take some foodstuffs without paying Its price
After the settler vendor refused to do so, they targeted his shop with a bomb, and the matter developed into clashes with automatic weapons, between settlers from Eastern Ghouta and with the support of some militia “Ahrar al-Sham” militia, against the militants of the “Hamza Brigade” militia, near Rajo Street in Afrin city
According to the Observatory, the fighting resulted in at least 8 wounded, in addition to the killing of a gunman from Eastern Ghouta, and a child who died after being exposed to random gunfire as a result of the clashes, while the city of Afrin is currently witnessing a mobilization by both parties, amid great popular discontent.
The clashes at the time revealed the existence of a secret detention center in the “Hamzat” headquarters, which contained 13 Kurds, including 9 women.
