Afrinpost – Special
Today, Tuesday evening, the 12th of September, unknown persons threw a grenade into the headquarters of “Al-Kabso” group affiliated with “Al-Shamiya Front” militia, located in (former Ronahi newspaper center) in the center of the occupied Afrin region / northern Syria, which resulted in wounding 3 militants of them.
On the eighth of September, the Afrinpost correspondent reported that the “Kabso” group led by “Jamal Kabso” announced the formation of a new militia called ” Al-Salam Brigade.”
This came through changing the name of the headquarters of the “23rd Division” militia (located at the formerly headquarters of Ronahi newspaper), which was seized after armed clashes on the ninth of last August that ended with the disbanding of the “23rd Division” militia and the arrest of its leader named “Samir Al-Kul” and was handed over to the Turkish forces, as a punitive measure, after gunmen from the “23rd Division” militia shot Turkish vehicles in the town of Sjjo.
While most of the armed men of the “23rd Division” militia are from the city of Tal Rifaat, the majority of the “Al-Shamiya Front” militants are from the city of Azaz, and thus the clash has a regional character, added to the militia’s competition for areas of control, and the militias ’keenness to show their loyalty to the Turkish occupation at the expense of some of them. Today’s incident is inseparable from the factional context of the factional fighting.
