On the anniversary of Shangal tragedy, Muslim Brotherhood associations launch a school project over the ruins of the Yazidi house in Afrin

Afrinpost – Special

It is not a coincidence that the day of the Shangal tragedy was chosen to lay the foundation stone for building a Brotherhood school in the occupied Afrin region, and that the site was the center of the former Yazidi house. Since the beginning of the Turkish occupation of the Kurdish region of Afrin, the Muslim Brotherhood’s associations and bodies were mobilized to enter the region with their multiple names and are active in the fields of construction and building educational and religious facilities to change the culture of the population.

In this context, the Afrinpost correspondent reported that a ceremony took place on the sixth of August to start work on building the “Afrin” school, funded by the Kuwaiti Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Association, and supervised by the “White Hands” association. The site for the former Yazidi Union Center in Afrin was chosen.

The specificity of choosing the site and the day coinciding with the commemoration of the Yazidi genocide in Shangal in 2014 by ISIS terrorists confirms the compatibility of the Turkish occupation’s approach with ISIS, except that a number of ISIS elements have been recycled and joined the ranks of the so-called “Syrian National Army” and work under the supervision of Turkish intelligence in Afrin and other occupied areas.

It is noteworthy that the Yazidi Union Center in Afrin was looted and its contents were stolen immediately after the occupation, and it was destroyed by bombing it on June 5, 2018, and the Zoroaster statue in the center was destroyed, and many Yazidi religious shrines in the occupied region were destroyed, while Islamization was imposed on the Yazidi people.

The Turkish occupation destroyed more than 15 shrines of the Yazidis in Afrin, and they carried out excavation, and search operations inside them in addition to cutting and burning the sacred trees of the Yazidis.
